Service Description

Jbel Toubkal or Tubkal (Berber language) is a mountain peak in southwestern Morocco, situated in the Toubkal National Park. Standing at 4,167 m (13,671 ft), it is the highest peak in Morocco, the Atlas Mountains, North Africa, and the Arab world. Located 63 km (39 mi) south of Marrakesh, visible from the city, Toubkal is an ultra-prominent peak, the highest for over 2,000 km (1,200 mi). Toubkal is ranked 27th by topographic isolation. Day 1 Pick up from your hotel in Marrakech. After a transfer to the little village of Imlil, we commence our trek. Heading along the Mizane Valley, we pass the village of Aremd and proceed to the shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. Continuing east and crossing the flood plains, our route takes us along mule tracks, ascending into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river, we reach the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch. From here, the trail steadily climbs, zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the refuge (3206m), our stop for the night. Day 2 Early in the morning, we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and altitude make parts of the ascent challenging. The panoramic views along the way are rewarding, and reaching the summit offers breathtaking vistas across the Marrakesh Plain, High Atlas, and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. We retrace our steps, descending the mountain to spend the night at the refuge again. Day 3 Today, we head back towards Imlil. Upon arrival in Imlil, you transfer back to Marrakech.
